Failing to follow magnetic deviation procedures may impact your standing with charterers, insurers, and Port State Control.

A misaligned compass can result in navigational errors, risking the vessel, cargo and crew.

Missing or outdated compass deviation records can lead to vetting failures, lower ratings, or even detentions.

According to SOLAS chapter V/19.2.1.5, all ships must have a magnetic compass that is properly adjusted and regularly checked for deviation.
